ENGAGE

This year I'm leading See You at the Pole with my good friend, Patrick West. The main organization comes up with a new theme for it every year. These are my notes that I'm going to share at See You at the Pole. The theme for this year is engage, and it's coming out of 2 Kings 22:13 (MSG):

"Go and pray for me and for this people- for all Judah! Find out what we must do in response to what is written in this book that has just been found! God's anger must be burning furiously against us- our ancestors haven't obeyed anything written in this book, followed none of the instructions directed to us."

Engage:
-To bind (as oneself) to do something:
-We need to commit to prayer.
-To hold the attention of:
-When we pray, we get God's attention.
-To enter into battle with:
-Prayer is power, and a weapon we use to fight against the enemy.
-Ephesians 6:17-18 (MSG): God's word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long.
-To take part.
-To come together:
-Matthew 18:20 (MSG): A yes on earth is yes in heaven; a no on earth is no in heaven. What you say to one another is eternal. I mean this. When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my father in heaven goes into action. And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I'll be there.
-To pledge oneself.

What I find so intriguing about 2 Kings 22:13, is the first three words: go and pray. We're called to GO and PRAY.

-GO
-We need to engage people with the love of God.
-Be bold.
-Live by faith and not by feelings.
-1 Peter 2:9-10 (MSG): But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God's instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you- from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.

-PRAY
-As Christ followers, it's our mandate to pray. When we accept the responsibility and act in obedience, we bind and commit ourselves to an engagement of a lifetime of prayer.
-We are kings and priests. As a priest, we hear from God. As a king, we have power and authority through Jesus Christ to declare and decree.
-The Word of God in our mouths, is just as powerful as it is in God's mouth.

The last part of the verse talks about finding what to do in response to what is written in this book. It also talks about God's anger towards them for their rebellion. The key here, is REPENTANCE.

-REPENT
-Change the way you think.
-Be Kingdom minded.
-2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV): If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will hear their land.
-If we as Christians want to see change come on our campuses, we need to PRAY and SEEK the Kingdom. We need to put God first. The bible promises if we seek the Kingdom, first and foremost, God will take care of EVERYTHING.

I want to see that change on campus. Let's be Christ followers that engage.
